ANTHONY ITHURRALDE

My paintings and historical illustrations examine the sophisticated style of the café society era. Hand painted advertisements from the 1920's and 30's are the source of my inspiration. Especially Leon Benigni's distinctive advertisements of elegance and grace, along with cartoons from Edward Gorey and the Max Fleischer Studios, have all shaped my technic, humor, and satire found in my own narratives.

On the left is my Great Gatsby illustration which won the Warner Brothers contest for the premier of Baz Luhrmann's "Great Gatsby" Film.
